July 22nd saw the annual DDAPS fishing fun day, and what a day it was too. The weather was kind and the fish were biting, which no doubt helped the record breaking 410 youngsters in attendance have a thoroughly enjoyable day, and to also catch a few fish.

The gates opened at 9am, and soon after reports of fish being caught (and getting away) were soon reported back.  Those wanting to have some free tuition were able to do so via the professional angling coaches that were on hand, and some notable catches were had.

At the conclusion of the day all of the guests that remained, attended the presentation and raffle, The coaches award, fish of the day and the TACKLE BOX ANGLER of the day awards were presented, and the proud winners, Harry Davies, Tristian Jordaan, Freddie Reast and Harley Vace, were presented with their trophies, certificates and prizes. Following this the giant free raffle was held and further prizes were won. Those remaining were then generously informed by the event sponsor, THE TACKLE BOX that the tackle that they had been using throughout the day, was theirs to keep free of charge. Thank you THE TACKLE BOX.

DDAPS would like to thank Chapman Smith professional photographers for their services, they took photos of the event and guests throughout the day for free, and these can be downloaded from this site, also Kent Police for their on-going support, Alyson Buller for the face painting, Location Medical Services, Angling Trust for the coaching. Keeley for all of her support preparing and administration on the day, all of the volunteers of whom there are too many to mention individually.

And a special thanks to the TACKLE BOX in Dartford, whom supplied all of the equipment and bait on the day. Without their generous support and assistance this event would not be possible.

Many thanks to all, and I hope to see you at next year’s event.
