This year’s DDAPS fishing fun day was held on Sunday the 30th of June. Once again we were blessed with fantastic weather and obliging fish. The gates opened at 09:00 and by the close of play in the afternoon we had welcomed 350 budding young anglers to have a go, many of whom have never wet a line before.

Those who attended the free tuition were rewarded with some excellent catches including a roach of over a 1lb and also a special mention to Jamie Humphrey who caught 2 good size carp and a bream that won him the coaches award. On the subject of notable catches Henry Varley caught a 10lb carp on his 1st ever fishing trip, a catch that won him the catch of the day award. The other award for the tackle Box angler of the day award went to Eathan Bird who attended last year’s event but unfortunately didn’t manage to catch anything, undeterred he tried his luck again this year and caught plenty of roach and a bonus 4lb tench all on the equipment he was provided with when he arrived. Well done to all of the winners.

At the end of the day the traditional free tackle raffle was held and plenty of lucky winners found themselves in receipt of rods and reels to enable them to continue fishing long in to the future. That said courtesy of the events sponsors the tackle Box who are based in Watling Street Dartford, all of the guests who attended on the day got to keep the fishing equipment that they were provided with when they arrived (free of charge) A big thank you to the Tackle Box.

DDAPS would like to thank all of the volunteers and professional photographers,  who assisted over the weekend, Kent Police, Location medical services, and of course The Tackle Box, without whom the event would not be possible.

We look forward to seeing you next year
