On Sunday June the 10th 2011 saw this years DDAPS angling youth fun day at Horton Kirby Lakes. This years event built on from the fantastic success of last years fun day, and attracted 293 young angling guests, plus their parents and guardians. As in past years all the guests received a free tackle box containing some essential fishing equipment as well as a top quality pole rig and 4 meter fishing pole. This equipment was generously provided for free by The Tackle Box based in Dartford. It wasn’t long before most of the guests were hooking and landing fish, with many catching their 1st ever fish on the day, and having a great time with it, this makes the event the great day that it is. There was professional coaching available to the youngsters, some catching specimen fish that seasoned anglers would be proud to catch. At the end of the day there was a presentation and awards given for the Fish of the day, The Coaches award, and Angler of the day, with the awards being presented by the Chairman of DDAPS, Kent police and Ben Lord from the Environment Agency. As usual a free to enter raffle was held at the end of the day and numerous complete fishing kits won. Following the conclusion of the day all of the guests were allowed to keep the equipment they had been using so they can continue to enjoy fishing for the foreseeable future. DDAPS have now introduced over 1000 youngsters to the sport over the past 4 years at this annual event.

DDAPS would like to thank all of the volunteers on the day without whom the day would not have been possible. Smith and Chapman photography, Kent police, The Environment Agency, Mark 2 Angling, and The Tackle Box who sponsored the event and provided the bait and tackle which the guests got to keep.
Thank you.
