This years youth angling fun day was held on July the 8th, and once again it was a fantastic success. This years event attracted 220  budding young anglers. Although this figure was slightly down on last year, what the figures don’t reflect was the weather.

To say it was wet would have been an understatement. At 08:45 prior to the gates opening there was the traditional queue of hardy souls, comprising of young anglers and their guardians waiting to come in and join in the fun. One could only imagine how many people would have attended if the weather had been a little more forgiving.

Once the day commenced it wasn’t long before fish were being caught and very few if any young guests left without catching a fish or two. The coaches held tuition on the West lake at this years event with numerous good catches returned, including carp and tench as well as good quality silver fish.

At the end of the day the free raffle and trophy presentation was held, representatives from Kent Police, The Environment Agency and the Tackle Box all handed out awards. The tackle Box provided all of the equipment on the day for the young anglers to use, and at the conclusion of the day as in previous years the anglers were allowed to keep the equipment that had been so kindly donated by the Tackle Box,  a big thank you to The Tackle Box.

DDAPS would like to thank all of the volunteers on the day without whom the day would not have been possible. SPOM, Smith and Chapman photography, Kent Police, The Environment Agency, Mark 2 Angling, and The Tackle Box who sponsored the event and provided the bait and tackle which the guests got to keep.

Thank you
