The DDAPS 2023 youth fishing fun day came and went in a flash, last year’s event looked in jeopardy to begin with as high winds along with heavy rain, thunder and lightning was forecast. Lucky for us and not so lucky for the fish, the forecast was far from accurate and despite the odd light early drizzle the day turned out to be lovely.
The day itself saw in excess of 300 budding anglers try their hand at the free event, and as in previous years it wasn’t long before tales of monsters caught and even bigger ones that got away began to filter through to the organisers.
Many youngsters took advantage of the free professional tuition that was available, and with their newly acquired skills many went on to catch a proverbial net full of fish.
At the end of the day the traditional free raffle was held and also the awards to the anglers who did particularly well.
There were, Coaches award, this went to the angler who the coaches were most impressed with.
Fish of the day, this went to the best individual fish caught on the day, not necessarily the biggest.
Tackle Box angler of the day, this is the most sought after award and is awarded to the overall best angler on the day in the eyes of the organisers.
Congratulations to all of the anglers who caught a fish or two, which it seemed was most of them, and also to the trophy and raffle winners, as well as the on the spot medal winners during the day.
At the end of the day all of the tackle which had been provided to the guests was theirs to keep free of charge courtesy of the Tackle Box Dartford, who not only provided all of the equipment but also the bait for the event. We hope that all of the anglers who took the equipment home with them go on to catch plenty of fish in the future.
