Having taken on 2 more members of staff (rangers) last week I would just like to update you on works in progress. At our Sutton at Hone venue we are clearing a large area of trees between the car park and the toilets. This will give us a large area to spread the spoil that will be generated when we start to dig out our large stock ponds next to the poly tunnel. These large ponds will be used to grow on the fish that we will need in the future to keep our stock levels up to the amount we require. With a portfolio of 11 lakes now, it makes economic sense to increase the amount of fish we grow on. The area being cleared, once we have finished will be levelled and grassed over and will eventually be far more attractive landscape than it is at present. This work needs to be completed as soon as possible as the fish in the poly tunnel need larger ponds to grow to a size that will makes them less attractive to predators.
